Manushi Chillar Crowned Miss World 2017


After 17 years of dry spell Manushi Chillar was crowned Miss world 2017 in Chile. Thus bringing to an end the India’s dry spell of 17 years at the top pageant contest.

The 20-year-old Manushi is from Haryana, who is a medical student. She was one of the  top five contestants among from England, France, Kenya and Mexico.

Stephanie Del Valle, the last year’s winner from Puerto Rico crowned Chhillar was presented the crown by  at the event in Sanya City Arena in China which was televised live globally.

The announcement about Chhillar winning the Miss World crown was also made on the pageant’s official Twitter handle as well as on its Facebook page.

Priyanka Chopra took to twitter and congratulate the winner by posting :  “And we have a successor!Congratulations on becoming .. cherish and learn, and most importantly enjoy it.Bravo”

Miss Mexico was the first runner up while Miss England was declared the second runner up.

One the answers that impressed the Judges was her heartfelt response to the question posed by the judges — which profession in the world deserves the highest salary and why. Manushi replied: “My mother has been my biggest inspiration, so I have to say, a mother’s job. It is not always about cash, but love and respect as well. A mother deserves that the most.”
